What is Ultraclear?

UltraClear is a pioneering medical-grade device recognized as the world’s first cold fiber fractional laser. While traditional resurfacing lasers (like CO2) use intense heat to vaporize skin layers—often resulting in significant pain and weeks of redness—UltraClear utilizes a sophisticated 2910nm fiber laser technology. This specific wavelength is highly absorbed by the water in our skin, allowing it to work faster and "cooler" than its predecessors.

How It Works: The "Cold" Advantage

The "cold" in cold fiber laser doesn't mean the device is chilled; rather, it refers to the prevention of thermal spread. Here is the breakdown of its mechanism:

  • Fractional Ablation: The laser creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin. By leaving columns of tissue untouched between these channels, the body triggers a rapid healing response.

  • Precision Energy: It delivers energy in ultra-fast pulses that ablate (remove) tissue instantly. Because the pulse is so quick, heat doesn't have time to leak into the surrounding healthy skin.

  • 3D Tissue Coring: On deeper settings, it performs "laser coring," removing micro-volumes of aged tissue to physically tighten the skin and trigger massive collagen and elastin production.

Because it minimizes "bulk heating," UltraClear significantly reduces the risk of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH). This breakthrough makes it the first ablative laser that is truly safe and effective for all skin types, including darker complexions, providing dramatic results for scars, wrinkles, and texture with as little as 2–5 days of downtime.

Ultraclear Treatment Modes

UltraClear’s versatility stems from its ability to modulate the depth and intensity of the cold fiber laser. By adjusting how the energy interacts with the dermis, it offers three distinct treatment tiers tailored to different skin concerns and downtime preferences.

1. 3DMIRACL™ (The "Glow-up" Mode)

This is the most superficial setting, often referred to as a "lunchtime" treatment. It targets the very top layers of the epidermis to refresh the skin’s surface.

How it works: It creates superficial micro-channels to shed dead skin cells and pigment.Best for: Fine lines, enlarged pores, dullness, and minor sun damage.

Downtime: Minimal. You may experience mild redness for 24 hours, similar to a light sunburn.

2. UltraClear (The Full Resurfacing Mode)

This mode strikes a balance between surface refreshment and deep structural repair. It penetrates deeper into the mid-dermis than the MIRACL setting.

How it works: It uses fractional ablation to trigger a more robust healing response, stimulating significant collagen and elastin synthesis.

Best for: Moderate wrinkles, uneven skin texture, and age spots.Downtime: Moderate. Expect 2–4 days of "shedding" or redness as the skin regenerates.

3. Laser Coring™ (The Deep Rejuvenation Mode)

This is the most intensive setting, designed to mimic the effects of a facelift or surgical skin tightening without the scalpels.

How it works: It uses "cold" energy to perform deep fractional tissue removal. By physically removing columns of aged, lax skin, it forces the remaining tissue to contract and tighten.

Best for: Deep-set wrinkles, severe acne scarring, and significant skin laxity.Downtime: 5–7 days. This mode involves more intensive healing but yields the most dramatic structural results.

The process

Before treatment

At your consultation, your face will be assessed and Dr Horlick will recommend a treatment plan based on this. A consent form will be completed and before photos taken. Numbing cream will be applied and given 15-30 minutes to take effect. You will now be ready for your treatment.

During treatment

The UltraClear process begins with a skin analysis; while many modes require no numbing, deeper settings use topical cream. The provider glides the handpiece over the skin, delivering rapid "cold" laser pulses. You’ll feel a quick snapping sensation.

After treatment

Post-treatment, skin feels warm and appears red. You will be advised of the aftercare instructions and your next appointment will be booked if applicable. If you are having a deeper treatment you will be provided with post-care products to aid healing.

Results

You can expect to see your results as early as 2 weeks after your initial treatment, although the final result can take up to 3 months to develop. The number of sessions required depends on the treatment mode used and the significance of the starting issue.
