What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a biostimulatory dermal filler that is used to treat wrinkles and folds, as well as to add volume to the face and hands. It is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres that stimulate the body's own collagen production.

Radiesse can be used in its pure form to add volume to the cheeks, temples, and jawline. It can also be used to treat wrinkles and folds around the mouth and nose.
When Radiesse is hyperdiluted, it can be used to treat thinner skin areas, such as the neck and hands. It can also be used to improve skin texture and tone.

Pure vs. hyper-dilute Radiesse
Radiesse can be used in either its pure or diluted form, depending on the area being treated and the desired result.

When used as a filler, it is used in its pure form. It is used to add volume and definition to areas such as the hands, cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

Hyperdilute Radiesse is diluted with saline (salt water) to create a thinner solution. This does not have a filling effect, but it stimulates collagen production in the skin to improve skin quality and texture, reducing lines and wrinkles and lifting and tightening the tissues. It is commonly used in the neck, decollete and face.
The process
Before treatment
At your consultation your goals will be discussed and your face assessed. Dr Horlick will recommend a treatment plan based on this assessment. A consent form will be completed and before photos taken. You will now be ready for your treatment.
During treatment
The treatment area will be cleaned and local anaesthetic cream applied. Once you are numb, Dr Horlick will mark out the treatment area and then commence the treatment.
After treatment
You will be advised of the aftercare instructions and provided with a digital copy of them. The consultation and treatment time is around 45-60 minutes.
Results
You can expect to see your results immediately if pure Radiesse is used as a filler, or from 4 weeks (peak at 4 months) with hyperdilute Radiesse. Swelling +/- bruising may present for up to 2 weeks following the treatment. Results last 12+ months, depending on a variety of individual and lifestyle factors.
