What are anti-wrinkle injections?

How do anti-wrinkle injections work?
Botulinum toxin A is the active substance in anti-wrinkle injections. This naturally occurring compound works by temporarily blocking the signals that tell the muscles to contract. The muscle therefore relaxes and wrinkles are eliminated.

The treatment is injected locally, making it extremely safe. The effects last around 3-4 months but can last longer with repeat administration. A top-up may be required.

The process
Before treatment
At your consultation, goals will be discussed and your face assessed. Dr Horlick will recommend a treatment plan based on this. Consent form will be completed and before photos taken. You will now be ready for your treatment.
During treatment
Your face will be cleaned, injection points marked and then the product will be injected. The marks will be cleaned off and your treatment will be completed.
After treatment
You will be advised of the aftercare instructions and provided with a leaflet detailing them. A top-up appointment will be booked.
Results
You can expect to see your results at 5-7 days, with maximum effect seen at 14 days. At this point the face will be reassessed and a complimentary top-up performed if necessary. Results last 3-4 months, although can be longer after repeated treatments.
